Our Music & Audio AMP Interns on RYSE Commons

We are the Music & Audio AMP Interns at RYSE.

As part of the Advanced Media Producer (AMP) internship program, we work specifically to expand the music and audio horizons of our youth peers at RYSE.

For us, sound and audio production are forms of healing and community building.

We develop our own original project goals using the mediums of live instrumentation, podcasting, rapping, singing, beat making, music curation, and more.

We also receive technical training in the areas of production, recording, mixing/mastering, and songwriting through individual and group mentorship to develop as individuals and artists.

We work to raise each other's self-esteem by centering positive collaboration as a form of artist development.

RYSE Commons will provide young artists like us with newfound hope and inspiration.

Think of everything that will be possible with a space large enough to hold and grow our dreams.

RYSE Commons will increase access and options for young people like us who are interested in pursuing music and audio work as forms of creative expression and healing, and as viable career pathways.

This new hub will help us better house and store cutting edge music and audio equipment, updated software stations, and innovative practice spaces for collaboration in a safe environment.

We will also have our very own Black Box Theater! This means that we can host our youth productions in our RYSE home, in a larger, professional setting with professional equipment. Our Black Box Theater will also give us hands-on opportunities and increase youth internship opportunities in stage production, lighting, and technical crew experience.

We’ll continue to dream big for everything that may come with RYSE Commons.

We’re dreaming of expanded youth internship programs also in playwriting and other art genres, community film screenings and performances. We’re pursuing more paid positions for young people to lead art workshops, and more cyphers and showcases to highlight Richmond’s talented and powerful young artists.

We’re RYSing for RYSE Commons.
Will you RYSE with us?

Join us for our official Groundbreaking Ceremony.

On Friday, September 6th, from 2 -4 PM, youth and adult leaders, community members, families, and elected officials will come together to celebrate the vision dreamt and led by Richmond’s youth. This event is free and welcomes the community.
