Shante Lewis was born and raised in South Central Los Angeles. She moved to Santa Cruz to attend college at UC Santa Cruz and where her love for organizing was born. She received her Bachelor’s degree from UC Santa Cruz and a graduate Masters in Clinical Community Counseling at Johns Hopkins University. Before studying at JHU she received the Chancellors Achievement Award for Diversity at her Alma Mater UC Santa Cruz for her research on identity and study abroad. She has experience in international education, stereotype threat, substance abuse, youth empowerment, and college access. Shante loves to listen to music, travel, dance, and read.
