Rasheed Shabazz is a multimedia journalist, historian, and educator. He was born in Oakland and grew up in West Alameda. After attending College of Alameda and Laney College, Rasheed double majored in African American Studies and Political Science at UC Berkeley. While at Cal, he received an inaugural Google-AP Journalism and Technology Fellowship to launch a news website for a student magazine. After graduating, Rasheed received a year-long visiting scholar appointment to teach journalism and media literacy with students on University of California campuses. He is an aspiring yoga teacher, triathlete, and world traveler. He enjoys volunteering at his local mosque. When Rasheed grows up, he wants to be a grandpa.
