As the fifth member of her family to matriculate from UC Berkeley, Ciarra has deep emotional and sentimental ties to the Bay Area. After graduating in August 2016, she decided to seek employment opportunities that would enable her to produce life-giving work. Ciarra’s desire to cultivate holistic-health in diverse communities was catalyze by her time at Berkeley where she majored in American Studies with an emphasis on counseling, race, and sexuality. She also began honing her online-influence by blogging for the Huffington Post and The Tempest as well as publishing work in academic journals. In addition to her wide-array of publications, Ciarra founded the Queer Healing Space, a safe space at Berkeley wherein Queer folks could explore their spirituality without judgement or shame. Ciarra’s goal is to teach youth that radical self-love is the key to success. She is honored and humbled that her multifaceted communication skills can be utilized to build and expand RYSE’s already far-reaching positive influence.
